Waking Ned Devine
Friday, February 24, 2023
Description
The NW Montana History Museum and the Flathead Celtic Festival will present a showing of the 1988 Irish classic comedy "Waking Ned Devine" on Friday, February 24 at 6:30 pm. The event is FREE and includes the film showing along with a personal introduction that explores the culture and history depicted in the film. The film tells the tale of Ned Devine who dies from shock after winning the lottery. His two longtime friends, Michael O'Sullivan (David Kelly) and Jackie O'Shea (Ian Bannen) discover the body and agree that Ned would want them to benefit from his good luck. They embark on an outrageous scheme to claim the ticket -- but first they have to get all the townsfolk to go along with their plan. All donations that evening will be split between the Flathead Celtic Festival and the Northwest Montana History Museum. During the evening the Flathead Celtic Festival will also raffle off prizes to help support its mission. In keeping with Celtic Festival traditions, beer will be available for purchase. Popcorn, snacks, wine and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.
