Painting the Parks Of The Flathead At Golden Hour With Haakon Ensign

Sunday, August 20, 2023

For anyone interested in learning how to paint from nature, and/or perfecting their skills. We go out to beautiful places, get immersed in the outdoors, and find inspiring motifs to paint!

Outline: This class will cover the basic building blocks of composition and painting using Shapes and Color/Tone.

Materials: Oils are recommended, but slow-drying acrylics, watercolors, pastels, graphite or charcoal are ok. Have canvas, panels, or paper ready to paint on. Brushes, a working easel, or any structure that serves your needs as an easel. Brimmed hat, long sleeve clothes, mosquito repellent, hydration, rain jacket, sunglasses.

Any painting system you feel comfortable with. An easel that supports stand-up painting is recommended. The painting system should be tried beforehand.

If you're new and just want to see how this works you are welcome to come along free of charge.

We will meet at a chosen park and go over the main topics of importance for the day, then find yourself an interesting motif and paint! The instructor will make the rounds to answer questions.

This class is to end the frustration of failed paintings. To grow in the ability to see, and to create what you see using color, composition, and drawing. And to have fun and get inspired in beautiful new places!
