Welcome to Kalispell and Montana. We're glad you're here (we promise). Want to explore the area like a local? Here are some tips:
🤙 Slow down. We don't travel anywhere at the speed of light. Take it easy, get that foot off the gas and remember that you're on Montana time.
🤟 There's room for everyone, including you. No need to cut in line, push your way past people or honk. If a trailhead is crowded, keep going to the next one. If you can't find a spot to park, wait 5 minutes. Or park farther away and get your steps in for the day.
Support local. Visit local Kalispell businesses and spend some dollars. We promise you that they appreciate it and your business does not go unnoticed.
👑 Be nice. Smile, say hi, use please and thank you.
🏃‍♂️ Get off the beaten path. We get it. You want to visit Glacier, and we don't blame you. But exploring beyond the park is how the do locals summer. Grab a tube and float the river, head to the local park and just hang out, order a beer and pony up to the bar or visit a local farmers market.

Starting Monday at 12:01 a.m., Stage 2 fire restri

Starting Monday at 12:01 a.m., Stage 2 fire restrictions will be in place across northwest Montana, including Glacier National Park. WHAT THIS MEANS:
-No campfires.
-No charcoal BBQs or grills.
-Propane BBQs are allowed (because they are off the ground and have an on/off switch). If used, they must be used in an area that is barren and cleared of all overhead and surrounding flammable materials.
-Motorized vehicles are only allowed on designated roads and trails.
-Smoking is allowed within an enclosed vehicle or building, at a developed recreation site or in an area that is at least three feet in diameter that is barren and clear. As 70% to 80% of all wildland fires are human-caused and Montana is experiencing drought conditions with dry forests and dry public lands, it's imperative that we all do our part to prevent fires. ADDITIONAL TIPS:
-Don't throw cigarette butts outside.
-If you're towing a camper, boat, etc., be sure your chains are not dragging as the spark can start a fire.
-Don't pull into dry grass or fields with a hot car.

The sun rises early in Montana and if you get up early, you'll not only beat the heat of the day, but you'll have trailheads, trails, scenic overlooks and everything else pretty much to yourself.
😍 Explore downtown Kalispell. The heart of Kalispell, and any community, is the downtown. Chances are that you usually cruise through downtown and don't pay it much mind. But believe us when we tell you that downtown and its local businesses are worth a leisurely stroll.
👀 Check out museums. If you're looking to soak up the incredible history of Kalispell and northwest Montana, you've got to check out our museums, specifically the Conrad Mansion, Hockaday Museum of Art and Northwest Montana History Museum. We recommend hitting a museum or two first, especially as it will give you even more understanding of everything else you have planned for your trip.
