Glacier Chorale in concert - Reflection

Description

The Glacier Chorale returns to the stage with a Reflection on inspiring choral repertoire
The month of November unveils two very special  MasterWorks concerts in the 39th season  of the Glacier Symphony and Chorale organization, with the first showcasing the Glacier Chorale under the direction of Dr. Micah Hunter on  November 13th and November 14th  in performances entitled Reflection.
The varied program reflects on the evolution of choral writing from the 16th century with a work by Palestrina, all the way to the 21st century, including a piece by Glacier Chorale tenor  and composer, Marshall Jones. Jones is currently Director of Music Ministries at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Kalispell and teaches Composition, Applied Piano and Keyboard Skills at Flathead Valley Community College. Along the way, the Chorale will perform a number of late 19th – 20th century works by such well-known composers as Edward Elgar, Igor Stravinsky and Charles Ives.  Other 21st century works include some of the more active choral composers living today, an arrangement of a traditional spiritual by the late Moses Hogan,  and some familiar favorites for Glacier Chorale audiences, like Vinjay Singh’s Let Peace Abound. Weep No More, by David M. Childs after a poem by Keats, is a beautiful feature for just the sopranos and altos of the Chorale.
“We are so pleased to once again this year to be able to take to the stage “live” after our annual November concert was unfortunately canceled last year due to the pandemic,” says Dr. Hunter.  “In crafting this program, I have chosen pieces that do truly ‘reflect’ on the topics of isolation, love and spiritual and religious themes, and also utilize the full dynamic range, choral sound, and harmonic capabilities of the choir. “
The concerts will take place at the Performance Hall of Glacier High School on Saturday, November 13th at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 14th at 3:00 p.m. All patrons and individuals are strongly encouraged to wear facial coverings while in attendance at the venue.
Tickets are available by calling the box office at 406-407-7000.  More information for the concert and the purchase of tickets online can be found on the website https://glaciersymphony.org/.
